FAQ

Absolutely! New windows and doors eliminate cold drafts, and, with properly installed Low-E insulated glass, will keep your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the cold weather.

New windows and doors can reduce energy consumption UP TO 25%. All Window Innovations installed windows are Energy Star rated, which translates into substantial savings on your energy bills.

Low-E stands for “low emissivity”. Low-E coating on a window pane or patio door lets light in, yet reflects heat and keeps harmful UV rays out in the summer and keeps heat inside during the winter. Low-E4 glass is 35% more energy efficient in winter and 41% more efficient in summer than ordinary dual-pane glass, and can cut your energy bills up to 25%.*

Yes, remodeling with or replacing old, drafty windows and doors increases your home’s value. According to Remodeling Magazine’s annual survey† replacing old windows with modern, Energy Star rated windows averages an 81.4% return on your investment.

Wood windows offer exceptional energy savings, and come in an almost endless variety of standard sizes and shapes. Custom sizes and shapes are also available. A number of different exterior and interior coating options (cladding) are available that make them virtually maintenance-free. Wood windows are the choice when you need to match existing windows, and will add more resale value to your home than vinyl windows. Attentive maintenance is the key to how long wood windows last.

A wood window is covered by a layer of vinyl or metal on the outside that virtually eliminates exterior maintenance yet shows off the aesthetic wood windows and insulates better than vinyl. Marvin® windows extruded aluminum cladding is 25% thicker than roll-form aluminum cladding. According to industry guidelines, sun and weather can take 1/10 of the finish every ten years. Marvin’s thicker finish directly translates to a longer lasting window.

Vinyl windows and patio doors are typically made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). For the budget minded consumer, they offer a great value in price versus performance. Vinyl is maintenance-free, since the vinyl color goes all the way through. They never need painting or touch-ups, since nicks and scratches don’t show a different color. For all these reasons, vinyl windows are popular for direct replacement window applications. Vinyl becomes brittle with age.

The Ultrex® fiberglass used in Integrity windows and doors is eight times stronger than vinyl and three times stronger than vinyl/wood composites. It resists fading, chalking, and peeling providing unparalleled durability. Ultrex pultruded fiberglass remains stable at extreme temperatures and expands at the same rate as glass resulting in windows and doors that are strong and weathertight. Fiberglass windows have a 38% longer life expectancy than vinyl.
